Hi, I’m Katie Kennedy.

It was my own therapy experience as a young person that sparked my interest in psychology. I became fascinated by human growth, development, and relationships and knew that I wanted to be in an environment and career where I could help people. I’ve been interested in what makes people unique—their personalities, systems, and cultures. Pursuing a career as a therapist was a natural path for me.

My interest led me to complete a degree in psychology with an emphasis in studio art from Santa Clara University. After graduation, I returned home to Oregon to continue my education at Lewis & Clark College where I ultimately gained the skills to become a psychotherapist. Upon graduating in 1991, I worked in a variety of settings including hospitals, schools, youth service centers, and community mental health organizations. I also spent several years as an adjunct professor at Lewis & Clark College.

In 1996, I opened my private practice in Portland, Oregon and have been practicing there ever since. My experiences with clients, personal trials, growth and ongoing education have helped deepen my work with people. Evolving and expansive, I have found psychotherapy work to be more interesting with each year of practice.

When I’m not meeting with clients, I am cultivating a life with family and friends. I am partnered, raising a teenager and entertained by my spaniel. I enjoy doing things that inspire me like getting outdoors, listening to jazz, adding to my 20 year yoga practice, reading, and making art and music.
